'Tsurumi River is one of the water systems in Kanagawa Prefecture, designated as a first-class river by the MLIT. The total length of the river is approximately 42.5km. Four major primary tributaries (Yagami River, Hayabuchi River, Okuma River, and Onda River) join the main stream of Tsurumi River, which originates in the Kami-Oyamada area of Machida City, and cross densely populated areas to the sea. 85% of the Tsurumi River watershed area is urban area, and the population density (1.96 million) within the watershed of the entire 109 water system is the highest in Japan.'
